Baby Love

I mentioned in my last post that it's almost baby season. Well....baby season seems to be in full force. For the next few blogposts that's what you'll be getting sneak peeks at. I'm loving it! These little people are the best to work with. And this gorgeous little girl was no different. Once we got her needs met and got her to sleep magic happened and we captured some beautiful images. I tried a few new props that afternoon as well and they all worked out so well. For all of you with upcoming newborn girl sessions these new props will be tagging along with me.
I wish I could post all the images but here's just a glimpse of our afternoon together. You'll be seeing more of this little one on my website. I can't resist putting this first image up (plus a few more!!!)

Tis almost the baby season...

It seems like there are babies popping up everywhere these days. Or about to pop up. I'm waiting for a few little ones to arrive, both in the family as well as clients. Everyone hibernates for the winter and once spring arrives there are additions to families. And here's one soon-to-be addition...

This maternity session started indoors, with mainly studio-style images and ended outside. It was absolutely freezing cold out so I snapped as fast as I could so we could get warm again. Below is a bit of the indoor end of the session. I can't wait to blog images once this little one arrives. A first baby for these two. A little girl with an insane shoe collection already and she hasn't even breathed her first breath. Oh, and I will be photographing just the shoes at her newborn session along with Baby K. Have to document everything. Can't wait to see this little one....

Happy Valentine's Day

Hoping everyone has a great Valentine's Day. Our day isn't chalked full of romance...we have 4 children you know! But I've got a few surprises up my sleeve. I've found some heart-shaped pasta for dinner. Yeah...it's a little cheesy but it's cute and when you're 4 years old it's fun! And chocolate fondue is also on the menu. I'll have to follow up with fondue photos.
Hug everyone you love today!

One year old already!

I love having returning clients. To watch little ones grow up from session to session and to see how much they've changed always amazes me. I have had the honour of watching this cutie grow up. I photographed her momma's maternity a little over a year ago, and then I got to meet this little one when she was a few weeks old. This was my very first maternity and newborn client so they've got a special place with me (fill in.....they were very patient as I went through a learning curve or two!!) So just before the holidays I got to see Little Miss again. And wow....has she ever grown! We all had a great time with this session. My girls even had the opportunity to watch it all. And they're favourite part.....the 'Smash the Cake'!

Help Haiti

So here I sit in my cozy house, safe and sound with all four of my children sound asleep and toasty warm in their beds. I know that the people that mean the world to me are all accounted for. I know they're safe and fed. None of us are suffering. But I also know that this is so untrue for so many people in Haiti.....for most people in Haiti. And when you really sit down and think about it, when you really try to step into their shoes and outside of your safe place it's incredibly sad and horrific. I can't even begin to imagine what they must be going through. There are mothers there that love their children just as much as I love mine. But those same mothers have to sit back and watch their children suffer through pain, hunger and thirst but they don't have the resources to help them. I can't even begin to imagine what that's like.
So I decided that for the next 6 weeks, anyone that books a session with Michlynn Schweitzer Photography can help. I will donate 30% of your session fee to help with relief efforts in Haiti through the Canadian Red Cross. It's just a small way to help conquer such a huge problem.

My newest prop

Wow....2010 already! I can't believe the Christmas rush is done and over with. Now it's back to routine and some sort of normalcy. My new years' resolution is to blog more. I haven't blogged nearly as much as I wanted to but as I've said before, this just becomes last on the list of priorities.

Here's a few shots of a newborn session I did back in December. A beautiful newborn little girl. This session gave me the opportunity to use my newest prop......a tiny set of butterfly wings. I'm not big into props but I couldn't resist these ones. Turns out the wings were the perfect size for her. And she didn't move an inch when I put them on her.

I love this family shot. There's something about the way a couple looks at their first child. A look of awe, shock and pure, intense love that they never knew existed.

And I had to capture this shot. I was getting Little Miss all set up and her proud Daddy had to capture her first photo session on video. So cute!

Merry Christmas Everyone!

I can't believe we are this close to Christmas. Am I ready? .....Not even close! Haven't even wrapped a gift yet. But it will get done. I know it will get done. Because I don't have a choice and it has to get done! I do wish I had another week to enjoy the holidays a little more though. The older I get the faster Christmas sneaks up on me. I absolutely LOVE this time of year, it's my favourite, and hate that it goes by so quickly. But I'm enjoying every minute of it. My plan is to put all little people to bed tomorrow night, grab myself a big mug of hot chocolate and wrap like a mad woman. Nothing like leaving things till the last minute, right?!?!

I hope all of you have as magical a Christmas as I know we'll have. I can't wait to see my four little faces light up when they see what Santa has left for them. Think of me at 5 am since this seems to be tradition that we're up at that insane hour on Christmas morning. Oh well.....there will be enough time to sleep someday. But now....there's memories to make. Sleep isn't as important as that!

I also wanted to take this opportunity to thank all my amazing clients. I truly have the best clients. All of you make my job easy and enjoyable. I can't wait to see what 2010 brings!

And for those of you that didn't get our Christmas card this year here's my sweet faces I was talking about.
